On September 13, 2006 Gov. Pataki approved Bill 7174 that reinforces the Sanitation Workers Safety by requiring video cameras in the back of the trucks and vans as well as the use of helmets by the workers.
On April 29, 2006 the Ossining Operations Center was renamed to John-Paul Rodrigues.
